X-Files – Jon Worthington

JON Worthington has found himself another new home after leaving Bradford City.

The former Huddersfield Town academy product has struggled to settle in anywhere since his departure from The Terriers.

He originally joined Yeovil on Loan in January 2009 until the end of the season, where it was announced that Town would not be renewing his contract.

It was expected that Worthington would tie up a deal to remain at Yeovil, however he instead joined rose’s rival Oldham Athletic in May 2009, however his time at Boundary Park was ruined by injury and in July 2010 he found himself on the transfer list and looking for a new home.

Then came Ex-Town manager Peter Jackson to the rescue, now in charge of Bradford City, Jacko took Worthington to Valley Parade on a short term deal until the end of the 2010/11 season.

So you would think all would end there, but unfortunately for Jon he isn’t in Jacko’s long term plans and found himself released from Bradford at the conclusion of last season.

So to the present day, Jon has now signed for Mansfield Town of the Conference National, where last season they finished 12th.

Jon told www.mansfieldtown.net:

‘I`m delighted to have signed.’

‘I came and met the manager and was pleased to hear about his ambitions for the club.’

Its a long fall from grace for a player admired by many at Town but ultimately has he found his level?

What do you think?
