Rhodes to No-Where

JORDAN Rhodes is the talk of the football world at the moment with 19 goals in 20 apperances for Huddersfield Town this season and 25 in total including his six for Scotland U21’s!

An incredible record for a striker at any level and his four goal haul against Sheffield Wednesday has just served as a reminder to the big clubs with the January transfer window looming.

Manager Lee Clark keeps reminding us that he is under no pressure to sell from the chairman Dean Hoyle stating that ‘Dean’s money is better in Jordan than in the bank!. Given the current economic situation that is actually very true!

Joking aside the Chairman has come out again and spoke to the Examiner to explain just why Rhodes will not be leaving the club in January.

“We could sell Jordan, but where`s that going to get us?

“If we let him go we would have to find another striker in his place and, let`s be fair, we won`t find one as good as him to come to Huddersfield Town – so straight away our chances of promotion would be decreased.

“This club needs to get promotion to be more self-sustaining, so selling Jordan would be short-term gain for long-term pain.

“We need Jordan Rhodes and all our other very good players to win us promotion.”

The boardroom chief added: “Whether Jordan is in League II, League I, the Championship or the Premier League he will score goals, because nearly every chance he gets he finishes.

“He will put the ball in the back of the net and, that being the case, if we get up into the Championship he will be worth even more money.

“So what I`m saying is it doesn`t make any sense – both from a football point of view and economically – to sell one of our very best players in Jordan Rhodes at this point.

“It`s not going to happen regardless of how much money came along because, without being cocky or arrogant about it, he is not going to lose value.”

So the Chairman says that Rhodes is staying, we all know the manager wants him around as his goals have proved vital this season.

The good news is that Jordan himself is happy at Huddersfield.

I think we can safely say that Jordan will be here until the end of the season and promotion would see him stay longer.

However failure to exit league one at a third attempt for Lee Clark would probably see us lose not only Jordan but some of our other high profile players.

So lets all rejoice with some Christmas cheer and look forward to Town securing that long awaited promotion in 2012

Up the Town.

4 goals on Saturday(albeit from the same striker)shows that 2 out and out strikers up front,in Rhodes and Novak are a handfull.Defences cant watch/mark both of them.More of the same please.

fully agree just cant help thinking what if from last season if we had employed that strategy – games when we desperately needed that ie the playoff final still cant believe we played 4-5-1 in a final.

Still hurts doesnt it Terrier 24.There was no need for it,young Afobe was lost up front by himself that day and the only person in the stadium that couldnt see it was clark.Rhodes and Novak up front,Clark and Mc Combe at the back for the rest of the season will see us promoted this time around.Realisticly though its not going to happen my moneys on clark messing it up again.
