Peter Jackson – ‘Shambles’

Peter Jackson gave his thoughts after this afternoon’s game against Forest.

‘It was hard to stomach. I said to the players before the game and all this week that it was important that we started the game well here. They are a good side and to find yourself 3-0 down after 20 minutes is difficult to take. When you look at the possession in the first half, we probably had a bit more, but we found ourselves 4-0 down at half time – 4 shots, 4 goals.

‘We are simply not keeping enough clean sheets. We were a shambles at the back today. Where Frank Sinclair and David Mirfin have been excellent, they were very poor today.

‘It is difficult when you find yourself 4-0 down at half time, but we have to start keeping clean sheets and be more solid at the back. We weren’t picking runners up, we were playing offside when we shouldn’t be and that’s something we will have to look at ahead of the Bradford game.

‘Andy Taylor came off injured. He got a knock in the first half and I brought him off inured. We have agreed to extend Andy’s loan which will be sorted out next week.

‘We have a lot of important players coming back, but their absence was not the reason for the result today. We have been playing well in recent games, but first and foremost, you have to come to Forest and be stronger than we were. You cannot come here and concede goals like we have done.

‘Of the players who were not picked today, players like Mark Hudson and Martin McIntosh have come to the end of their careers at Huddersfield Town and I will not be picking them again. They are available and no-one has come in for them. Certainly Adnan needs to produce in the reserves and do well there to be in contention for a place. I have to consider what we have coming back and hopefully there will be outgoing players as well.

‘I said to the players after the game that we have been beaten here today and that there is a lot at stake next week in terms of local pride and we will bounce back then. Bradford are struggling at the moment and we are not going to do them any favours.’
