Patrick Kluivert has today been linked with the Huddersfield Town hot-seat.

The story has broken in the national press with The Mirror, although coming out of left-field. Many sceptics will assume this link has been made with selling papers in mind.

Kluivert, a former Dutch International whose career took him to AC Milan, Barcelona, Newcastle, Valencia, PSV and Lille after breaking through the famous Ajax academy system.

The 38-year-old was one of the Assistants at the World Cup to the now Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal.

Steven Pressley remains still the bookies favourite; now odds on; with Chris Powell & Neil Lennon’s odds also shortening over the weekend. Tony Mowbray also took a big leap up the lost sitting now at 4/1 second favourite to land the job.

Kluivert joins the betting list at 12/1

Town fans maybe pleased to see that ex-manager Simon Grayson has dropped down the pecking order at 100/1 with Kenny Swain also dropping down the betting stakes.

Caretaker Manager Mark Lillis will remain in charge of the team up until Tuesday’s game at Reading, with a possible announcement to be expected on Wednesday next week.

would be somewhat out of the blue, can’t see it happening as hasn’t got the Championship experience that Hoyle is after. However one major pull that he would have is the ability to attract players to the club, a rich playing career and well respected in the game… Time will tell and sources suggest Wednesday could be that day
