ADAM CLAYTON has become the fourth summer signing for Huddersfield Town.

The Former Manchester City academy trainee has signed a three year deal with Simon Grayson’s side and leaves Local rivals Leeds United, for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of £450,000-£500,000.

This is the second time that Grayson has signed Clayton after previously purchasing the midfielder whilst at Leeds.

The 23-year-old is a former England U-20 international and describes himself as ‘liking a tackle’ as well as ‘Scoring goals’

Clayton in fact won the Leeds ‘Goal of the season’ competition for a stunning strike against Lee Peltier’s Leicester City

Clayton has taken in loan spells with Carlisle United, Peterborough, MK Dons before establishing himself last season as a first team regular at Elland Road where he made 43 appearances last season.

Simon Grayson was naturally pleased to get his man and spoke to htafc.com:-

‘Adam is a good footballer. He handles the ball and has a good energy about him – he had a great season last year and scored some important goals. We’re delighted to have got him.

‘He’s a player I admired when he was at Carlisle and Manchester City and we’re delighted to secure his services to this football club. I think it shows our intent in the level of players we want to sign.’

So Clayton joins fellow summer recruits Sean Scannell, Paul Dixon and Oliver Norwood on Towns books, question is who else will be joining them?!

Grayson confirmed that there are targets and they are coming along nicely, I would expect we will see some more incomings before the squad report back for training.
