Huddersfield Town striker Cristian Lopez has joined League 2 side Northampton Town on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old Spaniard signed a one year contract in the summer with The Terriers following a successful trial spell, but he has only gone on to make four appearances as a substitute for the first team.

Lopez has featured for the development side, notching 6 goals in 9 starts.

Lopez also had a loan spell earlier this season with Shrewsbury, in League 1, where he notched once in 5 appearances.

Town have a recall clause after the first 28 days, but it looks unlikely that it will be utilised with Mark Robins speaking to the clubs Official Site about the move:-

“Cristian is a superb professional and has worked very hard, but his opportunities have been limited this season. We took him on after his trial period, but he hasn`t been able to force himself into our team.

“We have talked to Cristian and want to give him every chance to impress others ahead of next season. This loan spell at Northampton Town gives him the opportunity.

“I know Chris Wilder well and I`m confident he will continue the upturn in form at Northampton and guide them to safety. Hopefully Cristian can help them do that and impress during his loan there. We wish him well.”

Good Luck to Cristian in his loan spell and for the future, as I very much doubt we will see him in Huddersfield Blue & white again.
