Huddersfield Town have been drawn away at npower League 1 side Preston North End in Round One of this season’s Capital One Cup

The first round ties will be played week commencing 13 August 2012.

However both Town and Preston are considering arranging this fixture for either the 11th or 12th August if an agreement can be reached.

Town manager Simon Grayson reacted to the draw and spoke with htafc.com:-

‘It’s going to be strange to have a Cup game before the League season starts, but we’ve known that will be the case for some time now,’

‘Obviously we would have preferred a home draw, but the Preston tie is one to look forward to. We saw last season that Preston are a tough opponent; they have a certain way of playing and they will have a new-look squad for the new season, but we will be ready for the game.

My approach to Cup games is just the same as the League. Ever since I arrived at the Club we needed to keep winning and I’ve always sent a team out that is capable and setup to win each and every game, so it will be just the same at Deepdale.’

Preston battled with Town last season in the npower league one, which was the first time for over a decade that the clubs had clashed.

Town triumphed with a 3-1 home win but suffered a 0-1 defeat at Deepdale.

Town were one of 16 seeded teams in the northern section of the first round draw, meaning they could not meet a fellow Championship side or a southern-based Club at this stage.

This season, due to the npower Championship season starting on the slightly later date of 18 August, this game will be the first competitive action for Simon Grayson’s side.

Town reached the second round of the cup last season after beating Port Vale, but succumbed to a 4-2 loss to eventual finalists Cardiff City in round two.
