Team GB boss Stuart Pearce has named 40 goal Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes on his 35-man shortlist for London 2012.

That list will be whittled down to just 18, and Rhodes will be hopeful of making the grade.

Rhodes, 22, was in devastating form last season for Huddersfield notching 40 goals along with making a full Scotland debut and breaking the U21’s record with 8 goals in 8 games.

Huddersfield chief executive Nigel Clibbens told his club’s official website:

‘Jordan is an amazing ambassador for Huddersfield Town and the football profession, with his great performances on the pitch complimented by his contribution to our community and the town off it.

‘He is a top class individual and thoroughly deserves all the plaudits and success that is coming his way. The Football Association has decided not to make an official announcement over the 35-man squad, but has given individual clubs permission to announce their own players.

‘Obviously we are tremendously proud of Jordan’s achievements and wanted to publicly congratulate him on his inclusion.’

Congratulations to Jordan, a well deserved honour, and hopefully we see him in the final squad and scoring goals for Team GB
