Interview with Vital Wycombe site editor Len ahead of the televised Huddersfield Vs Wycombe game

Ahead of Saturday’s televised 12:05 kick off against Wycombe, I nipped over to interview the Vital Wycombe site editor Len and get his views ahead of the league one clash.

1)How long have you supported Wycombe and why?

I saw my first Wycombe game in the Isthmian League when I moved to Buckinghamshire from Scotland in the early seventies and I’ve followed them ever since because I believe you should support your local team.

2)How is your season going so far, and where will you finish?

This season has been a strange one. Although we’ve only won one game, Norwich are the only side to have beaten us by more than a single goal and we’re just a few new players away from being able to comfortably compete in this division. Our new manager Gary Waddock has introduced an attacking style of play which has seen us score more goals but has also exposed just how poor we are at the back. Where we finish will depend on whether the club’s new owner helps Waddock to strengthen in key areas before it’s too late. I’ll be optimistic and say we’ll finish 20th.

3)Who is your danger man/ star player ?

Watch out for midfielder Scott Davies who’s on-loan from Reading, he likes to attack and isn’t afraid to shoot from distance. Apart from him, midfielder Tommy Doherty is a class act and striker Jon-Paul Pittman can be a handful at times.

4)And Who is your weakest link?

Our whole defensive unit including the keeper. If you could avoid winning any corners on Saturday we’d be most grateful!

5)Who do you think will be Wycombe’s top scorer this season?

Jon-Paul Pittman or whichever striker we inevitably bring in on-loan.

6)Which teams in your opinion will gain promotion this season?

Leeds for sure, with the two others coming from Charlton, Norwich, Huddersfield, Millwall or unfortunately Franchise.

7) Which one player from Huddersfield would you most like to see on your team and why?

Your goalkeeper Alex Smithies or your captain and central defender Peter Clarke.

8) And Finally what score do you predict for Saturdays game?

My heart says we have to win another game eventually but my head says our defence won’t be able to cope with your obvious strength in attack.

Huddersfield 3 Wycombe 1

Thanks to Vital Wycombe for taking the time to speak with me, and i’m sure he is close on the scoreline, however maybe he doesn’t know about our record in front of the sky cameras!

Oh and does anyone remember who the first game at the then McAlpine stadium was? along with the score? A certain Wycombe Wanderers with a 1-0 win spoiling the party on that day too!

Lets hope they dont spoil this party as Town look to kick on and push higher up the promotion places.

We’re joint top scorers of the league and their defence is poor…Another 6/7 goal win?

Loved the complete over-reaction to theo scoring. And isnt it amazing how good referees and linemen are when the cameras are there? All 3 made top decisions except maybe the penalty which seemed soft. What a spot novak’s handball was.

  • TERRIER09 says:

the linesman on the antich side hadnt a clue there forward was offside atleast 3 times and he didnt flag complete numpty
