Gary Roberts will undergo surgery to fix a hernia problem following the 3-2 win over Brentford on Saturday.

The popular winger was substituted after 67 minutes in last nights pulsating game which saw Huddersfield reclaim second spot in the league one table.

Everyone was wondering just why he was substituted as he was playing well and had hit the bar twice already in the game – with Sky pundits likening the second effort to the great Lionel Messi!! (I Know)

It was revealed after the game by Lee Clark that Roberts had been playing with the injury and the substitution last night was so that he could be with his other half as it was expected he would become a father for the second time last night!

Lee Clark spoke to htafc.com:-

‘Gary Roberts will go in for a hernia operation on Tuesday.

‘That is why I was saying a big thank you to Gary when he came off today. I have played for managers before with a hernia problem and I know that it can be very uncomfortable. Gary wanted to play, but he has shot off because we think he is going to become a father for the second time tonight!

‘He could be out for anywhere between three to six weeks. It depends on how quickly it repairs and on whether he has both sides done or just the single hernia.’

So what are the chances of getting in a loan signing to cover Gary’s absence or will Donal McDermott now finally get a run in the side? The manager added:-

‘We have got players to come in. Danny Ward is currently on a good run of form as is Danny Cadamarteri who did well. Donal McDermott is looking sharp in training so his opportunity will come.’

Good to hear that Donal will get his chance.

Finally get well soon Gary, and Congratulations.
