Vital Huddersfield member Impact’s views on the players performances and match ratings vs Exeter City

Vital Huddersfield member Impact has returned to the forums and wanted to share his views on today’s game.

Below he profiles each players performance from today’s 2-0 home win against Exeter City.

Over to you Impact!:-

.Smithies – 7. Don’t think he actually had to make a save, although was very casual for a couple which just missed the target! Good positioning and distribution.

.Hunt – 8. That’s the performance that we haven’t seen for a while, really attacking the full-backs

.McCombe – 6. No idea how he scored the goal, possible the knee, and although he dominated aerially there were some shaky moment with clearances int he 2nd half.

.Morrison – 8. Very impressed, my MOTM. Much better than his Sheff Utd display. Looked strong, composed on the ball and very tidy.

.Naysmith – 7. Solid game, would still like to see him get forwards more

.Roberts – 5. Not the best game for him, didn’t look particularly match fit to be honest.

.Gobern – 5. I thought he was poor today. The rating is what it is due to some good balls he played, but he need to work harder without the ball and face the opposition with it.

.Robinson – 7. Thought he did quite well today, and was our msot lively player in the 2nd half until he got substitued. Quite why he did, I’m not too sure.

.Ward – 8. Like Hunt, these performances have been few and far between, more of the same please.

.Lee – 5.5. Didn’t get into the game really due to a combination of poor balls played to him, defenders man-handling him.

.Rhodes – 6.5. Quiet game until he popped up with a top class finish.

.Subs:

Gudjonsson – 6. Hero’s reception for him, looked scared to try his diagonal balls to Ward even when they were on. Decent game though.

.Novak – 7.5. Looked lively when he came on, wouldn’t surprise me to see him start next week.

.Cads – N/A due to lack of time

Manager – 6.5. Very safe team selection by sticking with the same XI, slightly disappointing for me as I was expecting some changes. Credit to making subs at the right time, although I have no idea how Gobern managed to stay on ahead of Robinson. Didn’t really see much change to the football under Clark. Also, wear a suit you scruff.

.Ref – 7. Surprisingly high rating seeing as he missed 2 blatent penalties, one for each side, but he allowed the game to flow and unlike most refs didn’t pull the yellow card out for little fouls. Best ref I’ve seen this season with the exception of Halsey.

What do people think to Gobern? I can’t gert my head round him. On the one hand I get so frustrated with him because he always seems to be strolling and his distribution is either awful or too negative for me, then on the other hand he is the first midfielder we’ve had for ages who actually goes looking for the ball and makes himself available for a pass. I’m on the fence at the minute, but I think I’m going to need an extra 10% out of him to win me over

To me, it seems he has 1 good game then 4 bad ones. I thihnk we need to shout ‘man on’ every time he gets the ball just to get him moving quicker. His tackles are generally shocking as well.
