FINAL DAY: LEAGUE ONE

Image for FINAL DAY: LEAGUE ONE

Brighton were confirmed as Champions a while ago, and last Monday, Southampton all but sealed automatic promotion with a 3-1 win at Plymouth, which also relegated the Devon club to League Two.

Huddersfield Town look like they will finish third, as it would take a defeat for Southampton at home to Walsall, plus a home win for The Terriers at home to Brentford, and a goal swing of eighteen in Huddersfield`s favour! The other three playoff teams are confirmed, but their final postitions could change. Peterborough United can finish fourth or fifth, MK Dons can end up in fourth, fifth or sixth, and AFC Bournemouth could finish fifth or sixth.

In the fight to stay in the division, Swindon and the aforementioned Plymouth are down, and will no doubt be joined by Bristol Rovers, by virtue of goal difference. That leaves just one relegation slot to fill, and there are three teams in danger. Dagenham & Redbridge are currently the side occupying the dreaded position. Also in the frame are Walsall and Notts County.

There are only two points separating the three clubs, and the respective goal differences are very close, so it promises to be a very tense and nervy afternoon. All three face sides in the top four in their final games. Walsall travel to St Mary`s to face Southampton, Dagenahm & Redbridge visit Peterborough, and Notts County welcome champions Brighton to Meadow Lane. It is impossible to predict who will finish 21st, and I`m sure all three teams will occupy it at some point.
