Burnley play down Austin Sale

CHARLIE AUSTIN has been linked with a switch to Huddersfield Town in the papers, rumour sites and Twitter, but current club Burnley have moved to cool the talks of a sale of their star striker.

Huddersfield are certainly setting out their stall for an assault on the Championship, with five new signings already in the bag, and last seasons top scorer Jordan Rhodes looking like he is going to stay.

However Burnley have felt the need to come out and say that they have received no approach for 23-year-old striker Austin and even if they did they have no desire to sell.

Burnley have already seen Jay Rodriguez depart this summer to Southampton for £7m and that leaves Austin with a pivotal role to play for them this season.

Austin scored 17 goals last season at Turf Moor.

Again today though the Sun reported that a £2m bid from Huddersfield was on the table and the strikers arrival could be imminent.

He would certainly add more firepower to the Town attack, its going to be a case of let’s wait and see how this develops!

Get the impression he will be way overpriced…

17 goals doesnt sound a lot to me… Lee Novak will do better than that this season…Burnley (who???) can keep him … !!!

Would just like to remind you all that Charlie Austin has a considerably better goals to games ratio than Jordan Rhodes.

Is this claim vaguely related to his time spent at the mighty “Thatcham Town” 6 seasons ago by any chance…??? Dear oh dear,do us all a favour.!!!

And shut up 80s terrier, lets just see how Rhodes copes with championship football. My guess is he wont score anywhere near 17 goals next season.

  • 80s terrier says:

He copes admirably well with International football,as his goal a game record shows…So I cant see the championship being much of a challenge for him…

Jordan Rhodes, with a decent strike partner should be good for 20+ this season.Same goes for Lee Novak,im with you on that one 80s.
