The news we brought to you a couple of days ago has now been confirmed by the club

Paul Rachubka has made his loan move to Blackpool permanent.

Andy Ritchie confirming the news said.

‘I spoke with his agent and said that we would not be offering him a contract, the decision had nothing to do with his ability it is just that we are well blessed with goalkeepers. Matty Glennon did superbly in the four games for me at the end of the season and was excellent throughout by all accounts.

After him, we have Easty (Simon Eastwood) and Alex Smithies who are England under18 and under17 keepers, so we have some good cover there. Even if, for some reason, they aren’t looking good for us, the goalkeeper position is one where you can get an emergency loan, but that shouldn’t be needed.’

‘Rabs’ will be best remembered by Town for a loan period during which he helped Town to a memorable Play-Off victory in May 2004 thanks to two saves in the penalty shoot-out at Cardiff. He earned a permanent deal the following winter, but mysteriously fell out of favour with ex manager Peter Jackson, and was replaced by Glennon as Town’s number one last summer.

Vital view – On all the polls we have run on this situation, Paul Rachubka has clearly been wanted back at the club by the fans. Now the news is finally confirmed let us know your opinion.
