Huddersfield Town have handed a second chance to Connor Loftus and signed the 18-year-old to a first-year professional contract .

The 18-year-old was released by Bury at the end of last season and he will now link up with fellow first-year pro’s James Burke, Israel Johnson, Max Leonard and Jordan Sinnott.

Loftus started his career with hometown team Bolton Wanderers before leaving to join Bury’s centre of excellence.

The nippy frontman actually had a spell on trial with Town towards the end of last season and featured in the FA Premier Academy League clash with Sunderland.

Loftus clearly did enough to persuade Huddersfield to offer him this second chance and development coach Steve Eyre is backing him to grasp it with both hands.

Eyre believes that young hitman Loftus could well be ‘a late developer’ and that he is looking forward to developing their careers.

All of the youngsters are signed until the summer of 2013 and the club has an option of a further year.

Welcome to Huddersfield Connor and good luck to all of the first-year pro’s
