William Boyle, fresh back from his loan spell at Kilmarnock has left Huddersfield Town again but this time for good with League 2 side Cheltenham Town signing the defender on a free transfer.
The 21 year old left sided defender joined Town’s academy at under 15 level and having failed to make the grade at Town moves onto pastures new whilst Huddersfield have retained a sell-on clause for any future moves despite letting Boyle leave for no fee.
Boyle did make 2 appearances for the Town first team, as well as loan spells with Kidderminster Harriers, Macclesfield Town, York City and most recently Kilmarnock this season.
Huddersfield Town`s Head of Football Operations Stuart Webber commented on the clubs Official Site
“This is a great move for William, who now needs to play First Team football on a regular basis at this stage of his career. It`s very similar to when Joe Wright joined Doncaster Rovers and Jack Senior departed for Luton Town.
“Cheltenham Town can offer him this at a good standard and it`d be great to see him excel for them.
“He`s a fantastic character and everyone at the Club wishes him the best of luck for the future.”
Boyle was clearly never making the grade at Huddersfield, but as has proven previously with the likes of Crooks and Windass the club could be making a mistake but at least retains sell on clauses in this instance as they do with Joe Wright and Jack Senior
