Ahead of the FA Cup tie we headed over to sister site Vital Bolton to have a chat with editor Anthony Hart

1. How is your season going so far ?

It started off appallingly, but since October, we’ve actually done quite well, to go from two points after 11 games to being fifth from bottom now. We’re harder to beat now and look as though we’ve got every chance to stay in the Championship, which is what I would have taken at the start of the season.

2. Has Phil Parkinson got the backing of the supporters?

He’s got my backing, he took us up last season when we could have sunk further and is doing okay overall this season. I don’t think every single Bolton fan would necessarily agree with me though, there have been a lot of things said about negative tactics (we can sit back far too much when a goal up in fairness) and many would like to see Adam Le Fondre get more game time. But he has us where we should be when you look at what we have, and you can’t ask for too much more.

3. Are you going all out for the cup, or do you think you will rest players with the league in mind?

I’m not sure! There will be some changes as our usual central midfielders Karl Henry and Darren Pratley both came off injured on New Year’s Day, and our four loanees need to have their deals extended (although only one started the last game). Last season at this stage, we played Premier League opposition in Crystal Palace and played pretty much our first XI, so we could well go as strong as we can.

4. Who is your danger man / men ?

If they play of course: Gary Madine is our top scorer and big target man. Sammy Ameobi on the wing could give your defenders some headaches too with his unpredictability.

5. Predicted line up

Without checking for any injuries (4-2-3-1): Mark Howard; Mark Little, David Wheater, Mark Beevers, Andy Taylor*; Jem Karacan, Josh Vela; Filipe Morais, Will Buckley, Sammy Ameobi; Gary Madine

*Taylor has been injured, so there could be a problem here if Antonee Robinson isn’t resigned quickly, he has been on loan from Everton.

6. Score Prediction.

I’ll go for a 1-0 Huddersfield win. We’ve been good at home, but it is a step up in opposition

We did a reciprocal piece which can be read here Here on Vital Bolton
