With leaders Middlesbrough seeing their game at Blackburn postponed this opened the door to Derby, who in winning two-nil against Fulham moved to the top of the Championship table.

Bolton’s troubles continued with them hammered by fellow strugglers Rotherham (who made it back-to-back wins) four-nil with Cardiff losing more ground on the play-off places with a defeat at MK Dons, who eased their troubles slightly as the year moves closer to an end.
