Record Championship Points Haul Will See 2 Drop

A few weeks ago we ran a poll asking, how many points will be required to avoid the drop?

57 points wasn’t even listed, but as we sit heading into the last game of the season, even that may not be enough to guarantee safety!

58 points is currently safe, and Town fans were hoping that 2 of the 3 teams playing on Saturday would lose, but Barnsley defied the odds to beat Hull and Peterborough beat Sheffield Wednesday to drag the Yorkshire side right into the thick of the relegation scrap.

Destiny is still in Towns hands with the final game of the season at home to Barnsley, who are on 54 points , and in the drop zone on goal difference.

Wolves lost at home to Burnley and must dream of a minor miracle to survive, with them needing both Barnsley and Peterborough to lose, whilst making up a goal difference of 4 on Peterborough to climb above them both and out of the drop zone.

Millwall have a game in hand, at Palace, but could also find themselves in the final day drama.

Blackburn are not out of the woods, also on 57 points, but their goal difference probably ensures they will not be troubled on the final day.

KEY FINAL DAY FIXTURES.

Huddersfield v Barnsley
Sheffield Wednesday v Middlesborough
Crystal Palace v Peterborough
Derby v Millwall
Brighton v Wolves
