Oldham Vs Town FT

Huddersfield made the short journey accross the Pennines and nearly came back with all 3 points.

Had Referee Mr K.Friend rightly awarded Huddersfield a second half penalty, then Town would surely have gone on to win the game.

As it was he didn’t, but Huddersfield had enough chances in the first half to kill off Oldham before Their second half revival and Andy Liddell’s goal from a free-kick.

Town could have been ahead as early as 17 seconds, good work from Dickinson who squared for Craney, only to see the veteran Crossley block his shot.

Huddersfield then had a succession of corners and were really pressing for the opening goal.

That goal came in the 28th minute courtesy of Ian Craney, in perhaps his best showing of the season. Dickinson had his shot charged down by a defender but the ball fell kindly to Craney who had the simple task of beating Crossley from 12 yards.

All in all a good day out for Town and a very well deserved point at this seasons early pace setters.

It was a credit as to how hard the team worked that supporters left dissapointed not to have all 3 points.

One thing all Town fans will agree on is that we hope not to see Mr. Friend for another 5 years as he certainly did us no favours today

Player Ratings

Glennon 6
Absolutley nothing to do all game apart from pick the ball out of the back of his net

Goodwin 7
Looked fairly solid at right back

Skarz 6
Got done over a few times, a couple of dodgy clearences but recovered well

Butler 8
Looks like a Tank and was a rock at the back today

Clarke 8
Forming a solid pairing with Butler, kept the ball down and looked comfortable

Roberts 7
A few nices touches, great chance to score on the counter, perhaps not involved as much as he should be

Craney 7
Now i’m not a big Craney fan , but he was everywhere today and scored the opener

Worthington 7
Reckless challenge at the end got him his mandatory yellow card, did give the ball away a few times but back to his best

Flynn 7
Good shot, but Crossley isn’t a Taibi! Was all over the place and worked hard, starting to look the part now

Jevons 7
Replaced the injured Booth and worked hard down the right side. No real chances except for his attempt at being Maradonna! and a good freekick which was straight at Crossley

Dickinson 9
Worked his socks off and should have had a Penalty, you will not see a more stone wall appeal this season.

Manager Rating
Stan Ternent 7

Possibly should have made a change, as Oldham were chasing the game, but elected to do nothing!
End result a creditable draw so hats off to Stan

Opponent Rating
John Sheridan 7

His team were simply not at the races first half, but came out and looked much more lively.
