Neil Warnock, the former Town & Sheffield United boss, who is now in charge of Yorkshire neighbours Leeds United, has tipped Huddersfield Town to pip his boyhood side Sheffield United to win promotion at Wembley.

Warnock who managed Town to promotion 17 years ago in 1995 at the old Wembley, where goals from Andy Booth and Chris Billy secured a sweet victory over Bristol Rovers.

The boyhood Blade also savoured promotion with Sheffield United as they secured 2nd place in the Championship in 2006 as they were promoted to the Premier League.

However Warnock believes that Huddersfield Town have the edge in this encounter and he puts that down to one man.. Jordan Rhodes.

‘This is Huddersfield’s big opportunity I think and I’d say they were slight favourites because of Jordan,’ he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

‘I think both teams are very solid, capable at the back, good in midfield and not bad on the flanks but he gives them something else.

If you’ve got a lad like him in the team you can be under the cosh and playing poorly but be 1-0 up. That’s when you win games.’

‘But having said that, on these one-off occasions there’s always going to be a hero and it could be anyone. Who’s to say Nick Montgomery won’t pop up and grab the winner for Sheffield United?’

‘I can’t really win and I can’t really lose. Whoever wins I’ll be delighted for and whoever loses I’ll be gutted for,’

‘I had a fabulous time at Huddersfield and I think they are slightly stronger but my heart will always be a Blade.’

Whoever wins will be in for a tough Championship season but will enjoy some great local derby games with Sheffield Wednesday & Leeds United along with other favourable destinations such as Bolton, Leicester & Blackburn.

Its a tough league to get out of, we have served our dues and I just hope that tomorrow we can deliver when it counts.

UP THE TOWN
