Huddersfield Town striker Jimmy Spencer has extended his loan spell at npower League 2 side Cheltenham Town until 27 May 2012.

The 19-year-old was rumoured to be staying for the remainder of the season and that has proven to be the case.

Spencer has been in good form during his initial 6 month stint at Cheltenham scoring seven times in 21 starts helping the club to third in league two.

Jimmy who enjoyed a similar loan spell at Morecambe last season and previously at Northwich Victoria is certainly maturning as a player and manager Lee Clark spoke to the clubs official site about the extension:-

‘The first six months of his loan spell at Cheltenham Town have benefitted him a lot. Certain areas of his game have improved during the first half of this season, but I believe there is still room for improvement in other areas.

He is playing in a team that is doing well in League 2 and that pressure on them to succeed will only do Jimmy good. Extending the loan move is good for him, Huddersfield Town and Cheltenham Town.

We have a very competitive striking department at the Club right now and I don’t believe he is ready for our first team at the moment. The next six months are very important for Jimmy.’

So good luck to Jimmy for the remainder of the season and lets hope he is celebrating a double promotion come May.
