Andy Ritchie has revealed that Town missed out on striker Jason Scotland.

Ritchie was keen to sign a striker and the speedy Scotland, who has scored 33 times in 66 League games (thats 1 goal in every 2 in case you didn’t notice) in two seasons for Scottish club St Johnstone, was high on his target list.

However, the Trinidad and Tobago frontman transferred to Pawel Abbotts club, Swansea City last Wednesday for a ‘nominal fee’, a move which scuppered Ritchie’s bid to bring him to the Galpharm the Town boss revealed this morning.

Ritchie said: ‘We just missed out on Jason Scotland which was pretty disappointing. I put in a call to his agent and made an offer early last week and the next thing I heard he’d moved to Swansea. The disappointing thing was that I didn’t hear from his agent because we may have upped our original offer, but weren’t given the opportunity.’
