Huddersfield Beat Leeds in their cup final

Image for Huddersfield Beat Leeds in their cup final

Huddersfield Town travel back across the M62 with a deserved 3 points following Michael Collins, last gasp winner at Elland Road.

As early as the 4th minute it looked unlikely we would be heading home happy, as poor defending allowed Snodgrass to poke the ball past the watching Glennon,Skarz and Berrett.

Town hit back and were constantly asking questions of the Leeds defence in the first half, Town had a free kick on the edge of the area, which looked a penalty from where I was sitting and Roberts agonisingly curled it just wide.

Town scored their equaliser straight from the kick off, with Leeds not even touching the ball. Build up play from Goodwin and Holdsworth, fed Keigan Parker down the right channel, he turned his marker inside out and crossed a lovely ball which Skarz smashed into the net and send the travelling fans into raptures.

Town were having much the better of the opening stages of the half and looking to add to their one goal.

leeds brought on Beckford, Howson and Prutton in an attempt to win the game, but it was ultimately Gerry Murphy’s defensive substitutions that won the game for Huddersfield.

With Cadamarteri looking lively since his 81st minute arrival

On 90 minutes he collected the ball and twisted and turned down the right hand channel, with nothing looking on he created the opportunity out of nothing and then had the vision to pick out Collins in the box, who with a slightly scuffed bicycle kick won the Yorkshire Derby and sent Town fans into a chorus of 2-1 in your cup final!

Being locked in after the game was a small price to pay, as the Town players celebrated with the fans at the final whistle.

Easy Easy Easy!

Chump of the day, his pre-match comments about Town certainly helped Town shoot down a poor looking Leeds team.

Superb day for Town. And a lesson in what arrogance can get you for McAllister. Even now after all that has happened to Leeds they still think they are automatically better than other teams in the division. Now Town need to string the results together.

What a fab performance from the lads and what a great game of football. How nice for The academy lads Skarz and collins to score the goals and Berrett was really influential. Really pleased for Gerry that was the case. And turnip said our academy was crap eh? For the Leeds goal I thought glennon was poor and should have come for it, for our winner I thought that Cads totally skinned Telfer but I was most impressed with the workrate and desire of Parker, he was excellent. From Leeds point of view I thought they were very narrow when Beckford came on but found it absolutely disgusting that the ball was not kicked out when parker was injured. Thought the ref had a very good game but then again, being a premiership ref, he should really. Great Game, great day, superb result. Up the terriers.

haha……nice little story here, I watched the game with my young lad, my mate and my dad. I got 4 free tickets. Catch was they were in the West stand (john charles). We were surrounded by very arrogant leeds fans (of which I hate to admit, my dad is 1……not arrogant but he is a leeds fan). When we conceded, usual comments coming out like “how are we (leeds) in same league as these ” and “is that all the fans they have brought” etc,etc and I said to my mate, we needed a goal just to shut em up. That happened after half time then my mate said to me “you watch, if we get another they will be complaining about the ref” hehe guess what, no complaints about the ref all half until collins magic in the 93rd minute. Then the excuses came……ref/macallister making wrong subs/12v11/sack macallister/they were lucky and guess what, somebody even said it was unbelievable how we could score so late. I could contain myself no longer and uttered the words “thats a bit rich”…..The guy then said to me “what sort of a leeds fan do u call yourself (god i was dyin to tell him the trut but just said “well ok pal, we all have our opinions and mine is that the better team won” haha you should have seen his face. Anyway, dads till speaking to me…….a good day out…..but was dying to jump/scream/shout in 93rd min. Cads skinned telfer right in front of us and it was exquisite…..

Fair comment Tiny Terrier, bias to one side,i thought we played well all over the park… Young James Berrett blew me away what a prospect that young man is…As regards midfield i was in exctasy when you brought the $billion super star off,he was made to look very ordinary, maybe from a leeds prospective he just had a bad game,i dont know…Both sides could have scored more goals, but at the end of the day, what a game…!!!! Its not often I spill more tomatoe soup down my jacket than i get down my throat…lol… When i got out of the ground i looked like id just gone 10 rounds with Ricky Hatton(felt a bit like that too come to think of it) ..lol..lol.lol..
