Vital Quotes:

Lee Clark to htafc.com

‘Hopefully we’ll be able to reproduce Tuesday night’s performance this weekend. If, once again, we can produce that level of performance as individuals and as a group then with the luck that that everyone needs, I’d like to think we’d be in the hat for Round Two. But consistency is what I’ve asking for over the last few weeks, and that really what we need.

We’ve got quite a bit of information on Cambridge – two or three written match reports and I’ve watch a few DVDs this week. We’ve also been looking at their individuals and the teams they’ve been putting out throughout the season.

Whatever happens, we’ll show them the same amount of respect that we showed Everton when we went there in the Carling Cup.’

Cambridge manager, Martin Ling speaking to their official club site

‘The television people want an upset and there will be a cup upset somewhere on Saturday,’ he said. ‘I don’t see why it can’t be here, and we can certainly take the confidence from the good back-to-back results we’ve had recently.’

‘They like to go forward and will try to play through us. They’ve got some good players – John Schofield went to watch them the other night, and I had a quick look at the report he’s written and soon put it down again! I’ve come up against Lee Clark as a player and a manager so I know what he’s all about – they’re a strong team, but they’ve got some weaknesses too and we need to show them respect but at the same time put our own stamp on the game.

‘The first goal is important in any game, but particularly when you’re looking to cause an upset as the lesser team. It naturally lifts the players confidence, and with the crowd behind us it would be a massive advantage to get our noses in front’

Match Facts & Stats

Huddersfield Town make their first trip to the Abbey since January 2004 on Saturday afternoon hoping to continue a formidable record against the U’s. In eighteen matches dating back to the 1973/74 season the Terriers have emerged victorious on no less than ten occasions and, whilst seven games concluded with shared spoils, United have recorded just one win.

In the nine matches to take place at the Abbey, remarkably, United are still to chalk up a win. Five draws sit in accompaniment to four losses, including a stunning 5-4 reverse in April 1994. In fact, United’s sole victory came away from home when, in April 1977, Ron Atkinson’s men picked up a 2-1 at Town’s former home Leeds Road, as the men in back and amber prepared to lift the Division Four Championship for the first time.
