Another 3 Points on the road

Huddersfield Town claimed another 3 points on the road at the tricky Withdean Stadium, It wasn’t a pretty game but Town looked to kick on from the excellent result the previous week at Elland Road.

A fairly scrappy opening to the game from both sides with few chances to speak of started to come to life on 15 minutes when Gary Roberts tested Brighton stopper Kuipers from 25 yards. The first of many saves made by Kuipers in the game.

Had it not been for Kuipers, Town could have had 4 or 5 goals! The telling strike, and match winner came through Michael Collins. His third goal in 3 games, since Stan Ternent’s departure.

Following good work from Keigan parker, who was unfortunate not to have scored himself on several occasions, he crossed the ball for Collins to slot the ball into the bottom left hand corner and send the 281 following Town fans wild!

Brighton threw the proverbial Kitchen Sink at Town, but the defence was coping admirably, and then came a challenge from Worthington in the box and a penalty award to Brighton.

It looked as though the good work from the team in the game would end up as a point. Nicky Forster, accomplished from the penalty spot fired his power penalty at Matt Glennons bottom left hand corner, but to the delight of all Town fans, Glennon guessed the right way and saved the penalty and the rebound.

The Town players piled on Glennon in celebration perhaps forgetting the game was still going on as Brighton took the resulting corner quickly, which luckily resulted in nothing.

Brighton hit the woodwork through Bradley johnson, who is on loan from Leeds, But Brighton couldn’t find a way through the brave Huddersfield defence.

Gerry and the players now head home for Tuesday’s home game Vs Leyton orient, and hopefully a good attendance on what will be a cold night in Huddersfield, but could see a heart warming rise up the table to a possible 9th place.
