The Championship season continued with the one game played during midweek.

Huddersfield, who knew automatic promotion chances were over following Newcastle’s win on Monday, secured a play-off place after a 1-0 win at Wolves on Tuesday – the Terriers’ game in hand.

A top-two finish had looked on for much of the season but a poor run of Huddersfield form earlier in the season opened the door to both Brighton and Newcastle but promotion could still be achieved via the play-offs – seventh placed Leeds can no longer catch their Yorkshire rivals, third.

Wolves have now won just once in the last five but had already secured their Championship status – Paul Lambert will be expected to put forward a sustained promotion push next season at Molineux.
