Huddersfield’s Championship season continued with a two-nil win against Rotherham at the John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday meaning David Wagner won as the new Head Coach of Town at home for the first time.

Mustapha Carayol fired Huddersfield into the lead in the half hour mark as his 25-yards effort flew past Rotherham ‘keeper Lee Camp, with this lead taken into the break.

Town made sure of the points when Ishmael Miller, off the bench for Nahki Wells, ran through from half way to add the second with a little over 15-minutes to play.

Huddersfield were in control for most of the game with Joe Newell forcing one save out of Aston Villa loanee Jed Steer whereas Luke Hyam only managed to hit the post when presented with an open goal for Rotherham.

With this win taking Huddersfield up to 19th, but more importantly, three-points clear of the relegation zone with a better goal-difference.

Looking at these results the stand out ones (so far) have to be wins for Middlesbrough and MK Dons.

Whereas a reference has to be made to both Cardiff and Brighton, who lost two-goal leads! In the case of the Bluebirds though they recovered to beat Brentford three-two but the Seagulls had settle for a two-two draw with QPR that saw them lose top spot.

Middlesbrough’s fine run (of cleansheets too) went on with a one-nil win over promotion rivals Burnley with this win at the Riverside Stadium seeing them claim the lead in the Championship ahead of the top of the table meeting with Brighton this weekend!

Play-off pushing Sheffield Wednesday saw their hopes suffer a setback with a surprise setback at MK Dons with Karl Robinson’s side running out two-one winners to collect an important three-points at the Stadium:MK.

It’ll be another full schedule this coming weekend, the final games ahead of Christmas.
