Tom Clarke set for midfield role

Following on from his excellent 2nd half performance in midfield at Chelsea, Tom Clarke has been given the nod to continue where he left off, for Town against Scunthorpe tonight (KO 7.45).

It is expected that he will replace Adnan Ahmed, whom he also replaced as 2nd half substitute at Chelsea, in the starting line-up. Ahmed looked well below his best on Saturday and is probably still suffering from lack of match fitness after his lengthy lay-off through injury this season.

Andy Booth is rated as a ‘possible’ for tonight but I believe it likely that Jacko will opt for the same combination of GTF and Pav Abbott up front and not risk any further aggravation of Booth’s niggling injury.

I am sure that if a performance similar to the battling second half show at Stamford Bridge can be coaxed out of the Town team tonight, there will be a positive result for us.

However it won’t be easy. Scunthorpe have been somewhat of a bogey team for Town in the past few seasons and they are desperate for league points at the moment, having slipped perilously near the bottom four in recent weeks.

Prediction:

Scunthorpe 1 Town 2
