James Tarkowski, a rumoured transfer window target of Huddersfield Town, has joined League One leaders Brentford for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old, who Oldham fans thought would be going to a Premier League club, will return on-loan to the Latics on February 8th when the loan window re-opens.

The defender had been offered a new contract by Oldham but Tarkowski opted to move to pastures new and looks likely to be a Championship player with Brentford come next season, if they can maintain their top spot in League One.

Tarkowski has 3 goals in 36 games this season and has made 89 appearances since making his league debut in January 2011 at Oldham.

It is a shame we didn’t land Tarkowski, or any central defender for that matter, as clearly we are under-strength in that department as yesterday and our current poll shows!
