Terriers Hit for SIX

In what is possibly the worst result of the New year, Huddersfield were hit for 6 at a rampant Leicester, with debutant Chris Wood making all the headlines.

The former West Brom striker certainly likes finding the back of the Huddersfield Town net, having already done the same for Millwall in a 4-0 thrashing at the Den earlier this season..

The New Zealand international, who netted 11 times on loan at Millwall before he was recalled by West Brom, completed his switch to the King Power Stadium this morning and needed just six minutes to open his Leicester account.

It was a bad first half, but you hoped that Town could make it to the break just the two goals down, before a Joel Lynch howler gifted the ball to Ritchie De laet who proceeded to fire his first goal for Leicester and effectively end the game.

The second half was very much as the first, it looked like Leicester could score when they wanted and a quickfire double from Frenchman Antony Knockaert on 49 & 51 minutes made Town fans fear just how bad a cricket score this could become.

Scott Arfield grabbed a consolation, with the travelling faithful singing we are going to win 6-4, it was sadly delusional as Leicester substitute Martin Waghorn capped off Leicester’s fine display with the sixth.

It was scary how out of sorts Town looked, with a natural left back on the bench in Dixon who seemingly was overlooked due to ‘mistakes in recent weeks’ as quoted by Grayson after the match for the in-experienced Murray Wallace. A centre back by trade and the youngster looked like he was running in treacle trying to get back to cover De Laet’s goal.

James Vaughan was the only Town player to come out of the game with any credit, the striker starved of any kind of service all afternoon, cut frustrated figure throughout. However he was constantly harrying about and encouraging his team mates, and the blasting he gave to Joel Lynch for the mistake that lead to the third was good to see. A player who has passion, commitment 7 enthusiasm for the game, if only his attitude could rub off on some of the others.

“We wanted to be hard to beat and make sure it was a difficult afternoon for Leicester and make sure they didn`t have an easy ride.

“But the way we started the game allowed them to dictate to us what they wanted to do.

“Before we knew it we were a couple of goals down and too many times made the wrong decisions.

“The third goal probably summed us up when we decided to play kamikaze football across the back.

“At half-time we talked about restoring some pride and respectability, but before you know it we are four goals down and it becomes a real hard slog.

“As a team we didn`t play well enough and made poor decisions against one of the best, if not the best, team in the division.

“We were lacklustre and architects of our own downfall.
