Huddersfield’s Championship season continued with a defeat against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday.
Promotion chasing Middlesbrough secured a three-nil win over Huddersfield, with two-goals in a minute in the first half leaving Town with it all to do.
Middlesbrough went into the lead when a foul on Gaston Ramirez by Joel Lynch saw Grant Leadbitter convert in the 32nd-minute with this doubled by Ramirez a minute later when he went round Jed Steer to score.
The three-nil win was sealed when Ramirez scored a freekick from 25-yards on 77-minutes to keep Middlesbrough in the automatic promotion battle whereas we remain in 18th but have an eight-point cushion on the bottom three.
Here’s a round up of the Championship action from the other games played in midweek….
These were the other results.

Ipswich 0-0 Charlton
Leeds 1-1 QPR
Middlesbrough 3-0 Huddersfield
MK Dons 1-2 Wolves
Preston 1-2 Fulham
Sheff Wed 2-1 Blackburn
Reading 2-1 Nottm Forest
It’s now very tight in the battle for automatic promotion but Hull’s (four-nil) heavy defeat at Derby most likely rules them out, with his boosting the Derby play-off hopes in the process with that iPro Stadium win.
Burnley (nil-nil) remain top but only just following the draw at Cardiff with the Middlesbrough (three-nil) win at the Riverside Stadium seeing them close in on the leaders with Brighton (two-one) winning at Birmingham to leave little between all three.
He who blinks first could be the one to miss out, so to speak!
Charlton (nil-nil) will now be odds on to go down, with Ipswich missing the play-off too after this draw with MK Dons (two-one) set to join them to make an instant return to League 1 after defeat to Wolves coupled with Fulham (two-one) winning at Preston and Rotherham (one-one) and Bristol City playing out a draw leaving both (Charlton and MK Dons) with too much ground to make up you would think?
That Cardiff draw with Burnley saw Derby strengthen their position on the fourth and final play-off spot with the impressive win over Hull.
