Ternent costs Huddersfield Again!

Image for Ternent costs Huddersfield Again!

Huddersfield started brightly but looked a little dis-jointed.

Liam Dickinsons superb freekick the only real highlight of the day.

After this Town had several opportunities to win the game comfortably by half time.

Tranmere predictably scored on 39 minutes and when the Town players had a no show in the second half, it was inevitable after Tranmere’s 49th minute winner that Huddersfield were never going to get back in to the game.

Stan made changes, the right ones or the wrong ones you decide.

He took off Parker who looked lively and replaced him with Worthington.
This move saw Roberts go up front and all the width disappear from Towns already malfunctioning midfield, and with it went the chance of perhaps snatching a draw.

Stan Ternent and his team were rightly booed off the field of play, where now for the Town boss?

Surely another home defeat next week would seal Stan’s fate after only a handful of games, Can he turn it around?

What do you think, Stick or Twist?

Who’d be a football manager!

Player Ratings

Glennon 3
Very poor, Distribution is shocking and kicking was awful today. Beaten with both shots Tranmere had on target.

Holdsworth 5
Looks a shadow of himself from last season.

Unsworth 4
Worst display yet from the ex everton man, got beaten too often and was subbed

Lucketti 5
Caught in possesion and gave away needless freekicks.

N Clarke 5
His throws were the only danger in the second half, not bad but poor like the rest

Collins 3
Totally anonomus today, caught in possesion far too many times, should have been taken off

Craney 4
Started well but like the rest of the midfield went MIA(missing in action)and rightly subbed off, should have left earlier

Flynn 5
Great early shot but like the rest faded miserably

Roberts 6
Looked totally ineffective at times and well and truly marked out of the game, put in the effort but no end product today.

Parker 6
Great chance to score on 37 minutes, If only The midfield had played the ball to his feet more often!

Dickinson 6
Very well taken free kick, Derby had him scouted today- could be heading home after the Northampton game

Cadamarteri 6
Looked lively, a surprise inclusion, but as usual no end product

Williams 7
Came on for Unsworth and put in several excellent deliveries, which no one gambled on, perhaps his best showing so far.
Came on got booked, ran around a lot but delivered no impact, showed the passion of a leader. Surely he should be starting ahead of Craney, Flynn and Collins

Manager Rating
Stan Ternent 0

Looks tactically inept and out of touch his post match comments of ‘dont blame me, blame the players’ were not greeted well by supporters.

Stan has lost the dressing room and the players only one outcome!

What do you think?

Opponent Rating
Ronnie Moore 10

Laughing all the way back to Tranmere.

Shocking performance, shocking result, shocking post match comments.

  • Terrier24 says:

ternent should do the decent thing and resign, we have to accept that its also Jeppo’s fault and he needs to go also. Very poor.

  • 80s terrier says:

Hard to defend Stan..But a question for you Einsteins out there …WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE…??????????????????

  • 80s terrier says:

Read the post match comments !!!!…Im with STAN…For what its worth ive done a bit of coaching myself, and its absolutly infuriating when you think youve got the game plan into your players heads, having trained them all week…You send them out onto the pitch thinking they will do the business and then for reasons best known to themselves they loose it…Stans now has to be resolute and follow through with his threat,”if they dont wat to play for town then they can find another club”,(and ill help them to do it)”…We need another clear out,and another ,and another, and another ,until we have a squad that will give their all for TOWN…Dont blame Stan Blame the under achievers…STAN IN WASTERS OUT…!!!!!

  • Tiny T says:

Well said 80’s man, will you be saying the same next season in Div 2

  • Pharmer Giles says:

It may well be the players fault. They might not be doing something that they’ve been told to , but to come out with comments like “Don’t blame me, blame the players” is pathetic. YOUR THEIR F***ING MANAGER! Who else are we going to blame?? They’re not even players he’s inherited. He bought them all!! Not his fault though

  • Mirfield_BLue says:

I must admit I am lost for words as to what is going off down at the Galpharm!

  • pharmer says:

We should be beating those kind of teams and they made us look *****e

  • Terrier24 says:

We should have coasted the game against a mid table team… hmmm but were not that great at the mo!

  • 80s terrier says:

Tiny terrier..Nice to hear from you again…

  • pharmer says:

its OK Ternent blaming the players but he chose most of them. Out of the team on Saturday, only 4 of the 11 players who started were from last year. Glennon, Holdsworth, Collins & Clarke. Now I know that none of these had a good game either but come on Stan, from the shower of ***** you put out onto the pitch on Saturday YOU, yes YOU, brought 7 of them to the club. If they are crap then I’m afraid so are you.

    Keegan for Manager. LOL.

  • TeamDevil HTAFC says:

Stan doesn’t need the red card just yet. His verbal abuse is correct, the players are to blame.
The club needs someone who will drag this club screaming with blood all over them into the Championship….and he’s the man to do it.
The new signings were signed on their previous merits and the belief of an experienced man of the beautiful game to do a job that was outlined to them before they signed. They came to this club talking the talk that it’s HTAFC all the way, but are not living up to their words. OK, so these signings are no Ronaldo’s, Walcott’s or Robiniho’s but realistically, they are players who with the correct attitude are good enough to get us up……bar one. Think Unsworth has to accept he was one hell of a lucky b*****d when he got a job for a year. He needs to firstly stop eating at Burger King and get off the sofa.
Stan is a totally committed footballing work horse dictator and he will not allow himself to die until he solely manages a team in the Premiership…..he’s seen the opportunity in Town, that’s why he’s here. We’ve shown moments of brilliance i.e. against Bradford, part Chelthnam/Stockport, 1st 30mins Tranmere. The hope is there, the cogs are moving, but not yet out of 2nd gear….I believe and have a gut feeling that we’ll still do well…….as Town fans we need to instill that rarity of patience and believe in our team and our manager. Rome wasn’t built in a day, neither will Town in a mere few wks as a new team.
As a fan for 30+ years…..I still believe.

  • 80s terrier says:

Im with you all the way TDHTAFC … So long as we the (so called)supporters keep off the manager, and players backs were in with a chance…Tranmere’s post match comments make the point that we gave tranmere a distinct advantage/lift when we got on our own players backs during the game … Its not just the players who shot themselves in the foot on Saturday, some of our (so called) supporters did too…If the Tranmere players were aware of their taunts obviously so were ours, one things for sure getting on players backs during the game will only distract them and make them play worse…Wise up,and shut up !!! Or our seasons about to get a lot worse..!!!!

  • Pharmer Giles says:

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of the Ternant out brigade and I can’t abide “supporters” booing their own players and getting on their backs throughout a match, but the fact is expectation level is (rightly or wrongly) very high, we’ve spent a lot of money (by Town’s standards) and against Tranmere we were dreadful. All I’m saying is that Ternant’s appointment was exactly greeted with enthusiasm by certain sectors, and his post match intervew against Millwall, and his lack of one against Tranmere aren’t going to endear himself to the section of fans who didn’t want him in the first place. You may argue that he doesn’t care, but talk about making life hard for yourself!

  • TeamDevil HTAFC says:

Well its good to hear we’re all running in the same direction. Just to reply to PG’s comment as regards Stan’s post match ‘ways’ – what you have to understand about Stan is that he will not bow down to and conform to ‘the rules’. He says it ‘as it is’ irrespective of how the fans, the board, the press or his family & friends may perceive it. I absolutely love this. It’s 2 fingers up to ‘how I must present myself’ and he’s going to do it his way with the help from his team. He does care and spending 90 seconds at the press conf. afterwards is a great example of this. Basically, he said….”I’m not wasting my time sat here justifying that shambles to you lot, it was a disgrace and i’m going to spend my time sorting it……starting right now”. I’ve seen the forum comments of what ‘allegedly’ happened in the dress.rm afterwards and I can well believe it and i’m not surprised….this is a man that cares and is hungry for that success and like I said before he will realise one day his ambition of the Premiership……..hopefully with Town. Just to reiterate the point, if Richie had been in charge of that match he would have sat at the conference, told the press what they wanted to hear, gone for a pint and said to the players…..”right we need to work hard on Monday….see you then”.
This is the difference, Town haven’t seen this for years since Warnock, he’s ripping the arse out of it all and putting it back so it fits better, but until you’ve sussed out how it fits, you can’t put it back. He thinks out of the box, this is why I like him, I spend my professional life doing just this, swimming against the crowd…….eventually you’re way ahead, on your own in front of everyone else!
I’m a firm believer that if we do go up, next years team will be stripped again, more cash spent, better quality bought. This team is designed to get us out of this league, that’s all….no long term plan.
At the end of the day, if we do well, all the cynics and the doubters will be the first to pat him on his back……he despises that and so do I. More reason to jump on and support the ride……..we can than all celebrate as one.
A win on Saturday? They’d better do!

  • pharmer says:

Apparently, Dean Hoyle has linedup another manager ready incase stand fails again on Saturday…………A former player already in management…………watch this space……..

  • Pharmer Giles says:

Good couple of posts there TDHTAFC and I believe you’re right. I do think he will drag us up kicking and screaming and the situation we’re in now reminds me so much of when Warnock arrived. Hopefully with the same outcome. Fact is though, he is still making the job harder for himself with comments like that. In my opinion he would have been better off not coming out at all, or send Jepson out to speak to the press explaining that ST was giving the players the hairdryer! You sound like you personally know the big man, is that the case?

  • Pharmer Giles says:

I don’t think replacing the manager is the way forward. What serious manager would want it knowing that you’ve only got six games to turn us into a winning team or your out! That move would make us look as stupid as Newcastle! And besides the only manager with a town connection I can think of is Steve Bruce. Oh God no!!!!

  • TeamDevil HTAFC says:

PG – Thanks for the comments and no I don’t know Stan personally but have watched him occasionally over the years. Reading his book was also a catalyst into a further insight into the fella’s life of which he’s mirrored here already at Town. If you aint read it – I recommend it, what a laugh and what an insight. Def one of the most ‘can’t put down’ books i’ve ever read!!
pharmer – If your comment is true, i’ll be shocked. This will not do Hoyle any favors at all. I & we all understand he wants results this season but comments like “I fully believe Stan Ternent is the man for the job and he has my full backing” will instantly label himself a hypocrite especially after 5 wks of a new season and a new team if he sacks him. If he does, I reckon him & Stan haven’t ‘connected’ as best as he would have liked and may use it as an easy exit, blanket cover route excuse to part company. As a bloke within the corporate business world I can well understand that Hoyle & Ternent are from opposite backgrounds and just might well be clashing and not getting on. Anyway, whatever the reason, if Stan gets us winning – starting on Sat, Hoyle will be forced to get on with him! I work with a Stockport fan and after last nights match he reckons Northampton have nothing to offer and have gaps everywhere and no ideas. If Town fail to win, maybe I might have to eat all my previous posts! HT 4 – 0 NT. Hmmmmmmm…….
