Jon Stead made his Oldham Athletic debut as a second half substitute and was involved in the winner for the Latics.

The Huddersfield Town striker joined Oldham on-loan on deadline day and was straight in their squad as they travelled down to face Swindon Town in Wiltshire.

Stead started from the bench and with the game goalless he was introduced at a 64th minute substitute replacing Clarke-Harris.

Stead had a good opportunity to open his account, and make a dream debut, but Swindon keeper Wes Fotherington turned Stead’s header over the bar for a corner.

Stead wasn’t to be denied and with 17 minutes to go, Stead was on goal after being set up by Gary Harkins, Stead’s shot was saved but Jonathan Grounds was there to fire home the rebound.

So a solid debut from Jon Stead and an assist to his name.

Oldham fans certainly seem happy with praise coming in that Stead’s style of play suits Oldham to a T!
