Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has said he was ‘Surprised’ to have been able to land Adam Hammill on a season long loan deal from Championship rivals Huddersfield Town

Hammill who joined The Terriers in 2013 for an undisclosed fee will not be available to play against his parent club when the Millers visit Huddersfield on March the 7th.

The fleet-footed winger however will go straight into their side as they visit Brentford tomorrow .

Rotherham currently sit just 2 points below Town in the division; with many fans in disbelief on twitter.

Evans spoke to Rotherhams official site about landing his man:-

“Adam is a young man who can play in a wide area or centrally off a striker,” Evans said. “The lad has fantastic pace, he can go past players and has always been exciting to watch as I`ve watched him from a distance over the last three seasons.”

“I must admit I was a little surprised that he was allowed to come out of Huddersfield Town but at the same time delighted that we got the opportunity to take him.

“Adam joins us until the end of the season but then there`s obviously an option for us to make it a permanent deal as the weeks of the season go by. I am grateful to Chris Powell and Ross Wilson up at Huddersfield for acting in a professional, courteous and expedient manner which allowed us to have the lad training with the group this morning and be included in the 18 players at Brentford tomorrow.”

At a club where he feels wanted again, Adam Hammill could really shine.

Finishing last season as Town’s top assist maker, his creative flair could be the difference for Rotherham as they aim to beat the Championship drop.

  • worst deal we have done in a while.. think he has something special and having stuck by him for so long, to finally get him back fit and then not use him is criminal. Our loss is certainly Rotherham’s gain
