ALEX SMITHIES goalkeeping error right at the death cost Huddersfield Town a valuable away point this afternoon at Brunton Park.

Carlisle were on top for much of the game as The Terriers looked lackluster and labored through the game.

Town were probably luck to reach the break at 0-0 as Carlisle hit the post twice.

HALF TIME: Carlisle 0-0 Huddersfield.

Carlisle started the second period the same way as the first but this time they made their dominance count.

James Berrett was the man who opened the scoring on 48 minutes with a tap in after good work by Lee Miller. The former Huddersfield Town Academy graduate was there at the back post to slide in and give the Cumbrians the lead.

Town had chances but the best fell to Lee Novak who scored after good work by substitute Alan Lee.

Lee crossed the ball and Novak couldn’t miss with the whole goal at his peril.

Follwoing that goal it was all Carlisle but it was Town who had the best chance of stoppage time, after good play between Rhodes and Lee, it was Lee who took the strike on that cannoned back of the inside of the post and unluckily away to safety.

Town fans at this stage were hopeful but as the clock ticked down a ball into the Town box saw Alex Smithies make a blunder, he had a pretty poor game, that allowed Lee Miller to loop the ball over his head and win the game for Carlisle with 30 seconds remaining.

FULL TIME: Carlisle 2-1 Huddersfield.

Unbelievable – fought back to 1-1 and then throw it away – we were poor today – Kay, Smithies especially i think were not with it at all…positives were Peter Clarke, Morrison again… Arismendi didnt seem fit enough today

  • deano deano deano says:

My best shot at being positive would be! We did better today than the last time we played carlisle away!

  • Impact says:

Smithies attempt to save the goal was, in a word, pathetic. Play-offs it is.

  • deano deano deano says:

Come on you two.Thought we were being positive from now on.
