Gary Roberts, who was released by Huddersfield, is rumoured to be attracting the attention of Sheffield Wednesday & Rochdale.

The 28-year-old, who scored a spot-kick at Wembley, continues to be linked with Sheffield Wednesday but as yet no deal has appeared for the Liverpudlian.

Rochdale have also emerged as a potential destination for Roberts, but last seasons relegation to league two may prove the stumbling block.

Roberts has however played for the Rochdal management team of John Coleman and Jimmy Bell back in 2006 at Accrington, when they won the conference title.

Roberts had made 192 appearances for Huddersfield, scoring 39 goals after joining in 2008 for £250,000 from Ipswich Town.

The winger rejected a contract offer from Town 12 months ago and was released at the end of this season.

I wish Gary well personally as he looks for pastures new. A player who always gave his all for the team and has undoubted skill, but sadly seemed a shadow of himself this season after missing part of the season with injury.
