Jamie Murphy – Transfer Failure?

Jamie Murphy was paraded at Sheffield United as their new £100,000 pound signing from Motherwell.

The 23-year-old winger has just signed a 3 & a half year deal at Bramall Lane and no sooner had he joined then it came out Huddersfield had reportedly made an 11th hour bid.

Murphy, who has scored 11 goals for Motherwell this season under former Bradford City boss Stuart McCall, said his destination was never in doubt and that he didn’t care what division he was playing in.

It is also reported that Hull, Burnley & Glasgow Rangers were after him but he chose to join League one Sheffield United.

It sounds to me like a smoke without fire story and probably is just Sheffield United trying to make out they have made some kind of worldy signing.

If it is true then maybe we have dodged a Scottish bullet, with Town having signed a string of players recently from north of the border who have failed to really step up to the level in England.

Not that all have been failures, Murray Wallace has shown a lot of potential, Paul Dixon seems to be held in well regard by the Town fans, whereas Scott Arfield splits opinions & Kallum Higginbotham is no where to be seen.

The Transfer window continues… expect many more stories like this to come out in the wash in the coming weeks
