Blackool Manager Simon (Larry to the seasiders) Grayson’s response to Huddersfield Town’s Andy Ritchie’s claim that Chris Brandon won’t be allowed to go to Blackpool on the cheap, is that he won’t be rushed into a decision.

Grayson says ‘I’m not fully aware how much my budget is so I don’t want to dive in too early and get particular players and end up with a bit more money to spend.

‘I’ve said all along we’ve got a squad that did well last year and we need to improve it, but it’s about waiting for the right players to become available and not just going out and signing somebody for the sake of it.

‘Chris Brandon did really well here last year. I’ve got a few options that I need to decide what to do about and Chris comes into that.’

Rading between the lines

I don’t want to dive in too early and get particular players and end up with a bit more money to spend.

Sounds to me like Grayson is saying I would like to sign Chris Brandon, but if I get a much bigger budget than I am assuming, I could and will get someone better than him, so it’s best to wait a while. Which would not make me want to sign, but then I could be wrong !

What do YOU think

  • The simple question is …Is he Championship class? Larry isn’t sure and quite rightly is biding his time before deciding to go after him or not!
