Town keeper Simon Eastwood is being recognised by his country as he has been named in the England Under-18 squad to face Holland.
18-year old Eastwood has recently moved onto the first-team bench following the loan move of Paul Rachubka to Blackpool and he will now join up with the rest of the 18 man squad to face the Netherlands at Huish Park on Tuesday 27th March.
England Under-18 manager Brian Eastick selected Eastwood alongside the likes of Chelsea striker Scott Sinclair and Manchester City forward Daniel Sturridge (nephew of former Derby striker Dean).
This news is the latest in a string of good news for the Academy and it now means that Huddersfield Town can boast both the England Under-17 and Under-18 goalkeepers (Smithies and Eastwood).
Academy Manager Gerry Murphy was delighted for Simon.
‘It was great when we were informed of Simon’s call-up. Its great news for him and it now means that the Club has both the England Under-17 and Under-18 ‘keepers and this is a great thing.’
Town boss Peter Jackson echoed Gerry’s feelings.
‘ Simon has recently broken into the first-team setup and there is no doubt that he fully deserves his call-up. He’s got brilliant potential and this experience will no doubt help him in his footballing education.’
