HTFC – Hartlepool Take That!

Robbie Williams earned Town all three points with goal courtesy of his right foot!!

Williams ghosted into the box past four Hartlepool players and duly blasted the ball past the helpless Flinders in the Hartlepool goal.

It proved to be the winner, but Town had to work hard to come back from one-nil down, but in truth Town never looked like losing the game.

Hartlepool took a shock lead in the 18th minute through Gary Liddle and it gave the ‘Pool something to cling on to, but Town were not to be denied.

After a pretty uneventful first half Huddersfield came out in the second and really battered Hartlepool from pillar to post.

Pilkington was the key man in the second half, he tortured Hartlepool, and perhaps should have had a goal to his name, when his beautifully struck free kick hit the bar, he was however presented with another opportunity in the 56th minute, that ultimately led to Town’s leveller.

Pilkington’s second beautifully struck free kick of the game coming back off the far post and striking Hartley en route back into the net!

There was even time for Town to squander more chances to extend their lead, Theo Robinson missing an absolute sitter, I hear all the cries of Again! but i’m sure Robinson will score us some crucial goals this season, and ultimately his miss didn’t prove costly as Town eased their way to anther 3 points and up to THIRD in the league one table

Player Ratings

Smithies 6
Not a lot to do for the highly rated stopper

Peltier 7
This lad impresses me more and more every game, really does offer a lot going forward

Williams 8
Where are all the knockers now? On top of his game, looks fit and is scoring, maybe he is just after a new contract, but who cares keep it up Robbie!

N Clarke 7
Forming a good understanding with his namesake Peter, and shows that you dont need a left footed centre half

P Clarke 8
Possibly the key signing overthe summer, nearly added to his goals tally, looking more dangerous at set pieces, maybe he is a secret striker at heart

Pilkington 9
Awesome display from Pilks, more goals to come his way soon

Roberts 7
Wasn’t really in the game first half, but grew into it in the second with some tricky runs

Kay 7
Looking more settled and another player who will chip in with his share of goals soon

Collins 7
Novak 7
This guy is going to be, if not already a Huddersfield Town Legend

Rhodes 7
Unselfishly set one in a plate for Robinson, who duly missed an open goal. On a current goal drought but im sure he will be back soon!

Robinson 5
Low on confidence, and showed just why missing an open goal to extend the lead, fortunately it didn’t matter
