JERMAINE BECKFORD is working against the clock to prove his fitness for today’s game with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The striker, on-loan from Leicester, scored the winner at Barnsley last weekend but had to be withdrawn early after feeling tightening in the hamstring that caused him to miss Town’s previous matches.

It has also been revealed that Simon Grayson plans to extend the loan of the former-Leeds striker, but that any decision will come down to Leicester.

James Vaughan has still not recovered from his thigh injury and no timescale has been set for his return as yet.

Simon Church will of course be expecting to make his home debut, and one must hope that Beckford is fit after the two combined beautifully at Barnsley.

Oliver Norwood, Danny Ward & Adam Hammill will all be hoping to step off the bench, with Ward the most likely candidate after impressing as a substitute in the last two games.
