Huddersfield Academy player Jake Charles has signed his first professional deal, keeping him at Huddersfield until 2014.

The 17-year-old prospect signed the deal on his birthday this week and will remain in the clubs development programme under Mark Lillis.

Charles has 5 under 17 caps for Wales, and joined Town at 11 years old from Garforth Villa.

Charles has been a feature for the Huddersfield U-18 side this season weighing in with three goals in 14 games for the young terriers.

Academy Manager Mark Lillis was pleased to get the deal done, but the hard work starts here for the youngster.

‘Jake is only 17 and he will continue to work with us. The next step for him is work with the Under 21s with Steve Eyre, and Jake knows himself that he is still learning.

“We`re doing a lot of work with him and other players across all the technical football areas, including sports science and analysis.’
